5 Gentle Yoga Poses for Every Trimester
Published on September 6, 2025
Pregnancy is a powerful journey of transformation, and staying active can make all the difference in how you feel, both physically and mentally. Gentle yoga is a wonderful way to connect with your changing body, ease discomfort, and prepare for childbirth. Always consult your doctor before starting any new exercise routine, but once you have the all-clear, these five poses are fantastic for every trimester.
1. Cat-Cow (Marjaryasana-Bitilasana)
This gentle flow helps to relieve back pain, a common complaint during pregnancy, by warming up the spine and improving flexibility.
- Start on your hands and knees in a tabletop position.
- Inhale (Cow): Drop your belly, lift your chest and tailbone, and look forward.
- Exhale (Cat): Round your spine towards the ceiling, tuck your chin to your chest, and gently press the mat away.
- Continue flowing between the two poses for 5-10 breaths.
2. Goddess Pose (Utkata Konasana)
An excellent hip-opener, this pose strengthens the legs, core, and pelvic floor, which is vital for labour and recovery.
- Stand with your feet wide apart, toes pointing outwards.
- Bend your knees to a 90-degree angle, keeping them aligned over your ankles.
- Keep your spine straight and your core engaged. Hold for 3-5 breaths.
For maximum comfort during this and other poses, ensure you're wearing supportive, flexible clothing. Our Maternity Leggings are designed to grow with you, providing gentle over-the-bump support without restriction.
3. Bound Angle Pose (Baddha Konasana)
This seated pose helps to open the hips and groin, improving blood circulation in the lower body and easing discomfort.
- Sit on the floor and bring the soles of your feet together.
- Let your knees fall out to the sides. Hold onto your feet or ankles.
- Sit tall, lengthen your spine, and breathe deeply for 5-10 breaths.
4. Wide-Legged Forward Bend (Prasarita Padottanasana) - Modified
This pose provides a gentle stretch for the hamstrings and back while improving circulation. The modification keeps it safe for pregnancy.
- Stand with your feet wide.
- Instead of folding all the way down, place your hands on your hips or a chair in front of you and hinge forward with a flat back until you feel a gentle stretch.
- Hold for 3-5 breaths, keeping your spine long.
5. Child's Pose (Balasana) - Modified
The ultimate resting pose. The modification creates space for your growing belly.
- Start on your hands and knees.
- Bring your knees wide apart and your big toes to touch.
- Sit back on your heels and fold forward, resting your forehead on the mat or a cushion.
- Breathe deeply into your back and hips for as long as you like.
How to Care for Your Sustainable Activewear
Published on September 6, 2025
You’ve made a conscious choice to invest in sustainable activewear—now let’s make it last! Proper care not only keeps your favourite pieces looking and feeling great, but it also extends their life, reducing waste and honouring the resources used to create them. Here are our top tips for caring for materials like organic cotton and recycled polyester.
1. Wash Less, and Wash Cool
The single most effective way to be sustainable is to wash your clothes less often. Unless they're genuinely dirty, airing them out can be enough. When you do wash, use a cool cycle (30°C). This uses significantly less energy and is much gentler on the fabric fibres, preventing shrinking and fading.
2. Turn Garments Inside Out
Before washing, turn your activewear inside out. This protects the outer surface from abrasion and pilling, keeping colours vibrant and any printed logos intact for longer. It also allows the water and detergent to better access the part of the garment that's been closest to your skin.
3. Use a Gentle, Eco-Friendly Detergent
Harsh detergents can break down the delicate fibres in performance fabrics. Opt for a mild, pH-neutral, and biodegradable detergent. Avoid fabric softeners at all costs, as they can clog the pores of moisture-wicking fabrics like recycled polyester, reducing their ability to pull sweat away from your skin.
4. Air Dry, Don't Tumble Dry
The high heat of a tumble dryer is the enemy of activewear. It can damage the elastic fibres (like elastane or spandex), leading to a loss of shape and stretch. Instead, hang your garments to air dry. They’ll dry surprisingly quickly, and you'll save energy and preserve the integrity of the fabric.
5. Store with Care
Once clean and dry, store your activewear flat or gently folded. Avoid cramming items into drawers, as this can cause permanent creasing and strain on the seams. By following these simple steps, you'll ensure every piece from your LF Clothing collection has a long, happy, and high-performance life.
Our Guide to the Best UK Hiking Trails
Published on September 6, 2025
There's nothing better than getting outdoors with the family for a refreshing walk. The UK is blessed with countless stunning trails, perfect for all ages and fitness levels. Here are three of our favourites that offer beautiful scenery and a great day out.
1. Mam Tor, Peak District
Best for: Breathtaking panoramic views.
Known as the "Shivering Mountain," Mam Tor offers one of the most rewarding and accessible ridge walks in the Peak District. The circular route from the Mam Nick car park is around 3 miles and is paved for much of the way, making it manageable for older children. The 360-degree views across the Hope Valley and Edale are simply spectacular. Make sure to wear a cosy hoodie for the often-breezy summit!
2. Seven Sisters, South Downs
Best for: Iconic coastal scenery.
The chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters are one of Britain's most iconic landscapes. You can tackle a section of the South Downs Way, starting from the Seven Sisters Country Park. A walk to the coastguard cottages and back is a relatively easy 4-mile route that provides stunning views of the cliffs and the Cuckmere River meanders. It's a fantastic place for a family picnic on a sunny day.
3. Tarn Hows, Lake District
Best for: Easy, accessible beauty.
This is a perfect walk for families with young children or pushchairs. Tarn Hows is a picturesque beauty spot surrounded by woodland and offering classic Lake District views of rolling hills and mountains. The 1.8-mile circular path is level and well-maintained, making it an easy and enjoyable stroll for everyone. It’s a wonderful way to introduce little ones to the magic of the Lakes.
